Biotium Releases New High-Performance Magnetic Bead-Based FFPE DNA and RNA Extraction Kits Well-Suited for Automated Processes

Fremont, CA, July 16, 2024: Biotium, a leading supplier and inventor of fluorescent probes and other novel reagents for life science research, proudly announces the availability of high-throughput compatible magnetic-bead based versions of the CELLDATA DNAstorm™ and RNAstorm™ 2.0 FFPE Extraction Kits. Following the successful 2022 acquisition and integration of Cell Data Sciences’ RNAstorm™ and DNAstorm™ kits, Biotium has enhanced these kits to streamline extraction of DNA or RNA from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples.

Introduced exclusively through the Biotium website and authorized distributors, the DNAstorm™ and RNAstorm 2.0 MagBead FFPE Extraction Kits represent a significant advancement in nucleic acid extraction technology. These kits utilize magnetic beads for streamlined manual or automated multiwell plate formats, along with proprietary CAT5™ catalytic technology refined from research originating from Stanford University. CAT5™ is a unique chemical reversal of formaldehyde crosslinking in FFPE samples that enables higher yields of amplifiable DNA and RNA as compared to competitors’ offerings.
