Magnesium, Chloride, pH, Zinc & Other Indicators
A wide selection of ion indicators are available in both the membrane-impermeant salt forms and the membrane-permeant AM ester forms. Biotium also supplies Pluronic® F-127, a mild non-ionic detergent that can facilitate cell loading of AM ester compounds.

5-(and 6)-CFDA
5(6)-CFDA (full name: 5-(and-6)-Carboxyfluorescein diacetate) is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. Once inside cells, CFDA is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases to carboxyfluorescein (see #51013 ).
5-(and-6)-Carboxy-2′,7′- dichlorofluorescein
5-(and-6)-carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein is similar to carboxyfluorescein (51013), but has lower pKa. It is useful for detecting pH in more acidic environment.
5-(and-6)-Carboxyfluorescein
5-(and-6)-FAM (full name: 5-(and-6)-Carboxyfluorescein mixed isomer) has a pKa of 6.5 and can be used as a pH indicator.
5-Carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein (single isomer)
This dye can be used as a low pH indicator similar to 51015, and is also useful as a general green fluorescent label.
5-Carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorosulfonefluorescein
The pKa of 5-carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorosulfonefluorescein is near 4 and thus the dye is potentially an excellent pH indicator for acidic organelles.
5-CFDA (5-Carboxyfluorescein diacetate, single isomer)
5-CFDA is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. Once inside cells, 5-CFDA is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases to 5-carboxyfluorescein (see 50015).
6-CFDA (6-Carboxyfluorescein diacetate, single isomer)
6-CFDA is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. Once inside cells, 6-CFDA is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases to 6-carboxyfluorescein.
BCECF, AM Ester
51011, 51012, - 51011-1View allHide
BCECF, AM ester is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. This product is a mixture of three molecular species, all of which are readily hydrolyzed by endogenous esterases into a single BCECF free acid form once they are in the cells.
BCECF, AM Ester, 1 mg/mL in Anhydrous DMSO
BCECF, AM ester is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. This product is a mixture of three molecular species, all of which are readily hydrolyzed by endogenous esterases into a single BCECF free acid form once they are in the cells.
BCECF, Free Acid
BCECF (2′,7′ –bis-(Carboxyethyl)-5-(and-6)-carboxyfluorescein) is the most widely used fluorescent pH sensor. Because its pKa (6.97) is close to physiological pH, BCECF can detect cytosolic pH change with high sensitivity.
CDCFDA
5-(and-6)-Carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein diacetate is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. The diacetate is readily hydrolyzed to 5-(and-6)-carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein (51015) by intracellular esterases.
CDCFDA SE
5-(and-6)-Carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein diacetate, succinimidyl ester is a useful fluorescent tracer that can passively diffuse into cells and covalently label intracellular proteins, resulting in long-term cell labeling. The reagent itself is colorless and nonfluorescent but becomes brightly green fluorescent once it is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases.
CFDA SE, 5 and 6-isomers
5(6)-CFDA, SE (full name: 5-(and-6)-Carboxyfluorescein diacetate, succinimidyl ester, also known as CFSE) is a useful fluorescent tracer that can passively diffuse into cells and covalently label intracellular proteins, resulting in long-term cell labeling. The reagent itself is colorless and non-fluorescent but becomes brightly green fluorescent once it is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases.
Flubi-2
Flubi-2 is the hydrolyzed product of the site-directed fluorogenic probe Flubida-2 (#51022) and can be used as a standard for calibration.
Flubida-2
Flubida-2 has been used to detect pH at a specific site in a cell such as cell organelles by directing the probe to where avidin fusion proteins are located. The probe is a conjugate of biotin and fluorescein diacetate, which is nonfluorescent until the probe has entered the cells and hydrolyzed by endoesterases.
Furaptra (Mag-Fura-2), AM Ester
50037, 50038, - 50039View allHide
Furaptra, AM ester is a membrane-permeant form of Furaptra (Mag-Fura-2). The indicator is loaded into cells via simple incubation.
