Biotium Launches New PCR Master Mix Designed for Chip-based Digital PCR Research and Development

N-Flux™ 5X Digital PCR Master Mix is a high-performance, universal probe master mix specially formulated for chip-based digital PCR (cdPCR) platforms.

Fremont, CA, September 2, 2020: Biotium today announced N-Flux™ 5X Digital PCR Master Mix, a high-performance, universal probe master mix specially formulated for chip-based digital PCR (cdPCR) platforms. N-Flux 5X Digital PCR Master Mix was developed in collaboration with Combinati Inc. It provides an excellent opportunity for life science companies to streamline R&D development of novel dPCR and qPCR platforms.

Digital PCR (dPCR) offers distinct advantages over other PCR techniques because it requires less sample and is more sensitive and specific. cdPCR separates a sample into many partitions with a single reaction occurring in each and can be used to quantify or amplify nucleic acid strands directly. This “lab-on-a-chip” technology, as it is sometimes called, has many applications in basic research, clinical diagnostics, and environmental testing.

Features of N-Flux™ 5X Digital PCR Master Mix include:

  • Minimal interactions with hydrophobic plastic surfaces for optimal sample partitioning in dPCR chips and plates
  • Available in higher 5X concentration to simplify qPCR workflows with dilute samples
  • Featuring Biotium’s Cheetah™ HotStart Taq DNA Polymerase

Cheetah™ Taq, developed by Biotium, is a chemically modified hot-start Taq DNA polymerase with more rapid recovery of activity upon heating and improved shelf life over AmpliTaq® Gold. Biotium also provides several PCR master mixes, including the Universal Probe Forget-Me-Not™ qPCR Master Mix. The PCR reagents from Biotium have been published in thousands of research publications and are used for diagnostic tests using PCR.

The release of N-Flux™ 5X Digital PCR Master Mix is a result of the close collaboration of chemists and bioscience researchers within the company and scientists at Combinati Inc., the company that developed the Absolute Q® Digital PCR platform. As a result of the culture of listening to customer needs and feedback, Biotium has fostered an environment of innovation and meeting the needs of researchers. N-Flux™ 5X Digital PCR Master Mix addresses the complexities of reagent partitioning within microfluidic digital PCR plates and chips and is designed to minimize interactions with hydrophobic plastic surfaces. The master mix shows sensitive, robust, and reproducible performance in dPCR and qPCR assays. This formulation has been validated in singleplex and multiplex probe-dPCR reactions, genotyping, and copy number variation dPCR and qPCR. The master mix is suitable for all fluorescent probe-based technologies, including hydrolysis probes (such as TaqMan® and dual-labeled BHQ® probes) and displacement probes (like molecular beacons).

N-Flux™ 5X Digital PCR Master Mix will be available starting September 2, 2020, and is sold for research purposes as a trial size of 200 uL and a standard quantity of 1 mL, enough for 250 reactions for a price of $1.60 per reaction.
