Note: Please be advised that primary antibodies with catalog numbers that begin with “BN” will only be offered conjugated to CF®405S, CF®488A, CF®568, CF®594, CF®640R, CF®647, and biotin as of 5/27/2022. However, previously available primary antibody conjugates that are in stock will remain available until inventory is exhausted. Please view the list of available conjugates on the product page. We also recommend our easy-to-use Mix-n-StainTM Antibody Labeling Kits for labeling antibodies with all CF® Dyes. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Product Description

Note: All CF® Dye and biotin conjugates of this antibody have been discontinued. The antibody is still available unlabeled, with or without BSA.

This antibody recognizes a 40-43 kDa transmembrane epithelial glycoprotein, identified as epithelial specific antigen (ESA), or epithelial cellular adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM). It is expressed on baso-lateral cell surface in most simple epithelia and a vast majority of carcinomas with the exception of adult squamous epithelium, hepatocytes and gastric epithelial cells. Antibody to Ep-CAM has been used to distinguish adenocarcinoma from pleural mesothelioma and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is also useful in distinguishing serous carcinomas of the ovary from mesothelioma. It has been reported that this epithelial antigen plays an important role as a tumor-cell marker in lymph nodes from patients with esophageal carcinoma otherwise classified as node-negative.

Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF® dyes and other labels. CF® dyes offer exceptional brightness and photostability. See the CF® Dye Brochure for more information. Note: Conjugates of blue fluorescent dyes like CF®405S and CF®405M are not recommended for detecting low abundance targets, because blue dyes have lower fluorescence and can give higher non-specific background than other dye colors.

Stock status: Because Biotium offers a large number of antibody and conjugation options, primary antibody conjugates may be made to order. Typical lead times are up to one week for CF® dye and biotin conjugates, and up to 2-3 weeks for fluorescent protein and enzyme conjugates. Please email order@biotium.com to inquire about stock status and lead times before placing your order.
